I use to deal with drums on my olds and found them to last a long time. I always replaced everything at once. Drum, shoes, wheel cylinders, spring kit and even had to replace the baking plate as the car got so old the rust was eating it away LOL (big job)
Keeping them adjusted was another story, and finding that using new Delco wheel cylinder not rebuilt, is was the way to go. Nothing worse than having a new brake job and have a cylinder leak after 6 months, then have to put new shoes in again. With the pain of spring installation tools etc, sometimes it is just as easy to let the pro'* do it, and save the aggravation!

I have the slotted and drilled, with ceramic pads. they are great for stopping this heavy of a car at hwy speeds, I want to be able to stop when I have to, it may cost more and they may have to be replaced sooner but the stopping power is worth it. instead of whoa please stop, it is now wow. longevity or stopping power I'll take stopping power and I'm willing to pay a little extras for it. I've been thankful a number of times to have them on the car.

TJ Glad you are pleased with slotted/drilled etc, but what brand rotors and pads did you use? Brembos?

Bendex, rotors and ceramic pads suppose to be extreme street use if I remember rite. been using these types of brakes on all my cars and trucks and make sure everything is working proper I have never warped, broke, damaged anything they do wear out faster and both will need to be replaced together from my experience. I also only use brand name, there is no name junk out there I wouldn't trust no matter what surface type they use.
They stop me in a shorter distance and I feel I have more control of the pressure needed for delicate maneuvers at speed, out here its mostly hwy speeds.and animals trying to commit suicide.
Doubt that, city driving, these would be worth the money to use because of the faster wear.

I not going to do a how to but will add some pics on the front brake job from this AM.
Removed the old pads, hung caliper, inspected hub, lube sliders etc. Bolts were all good.

For Pads ProGrade Raybestos Ceramic, PGD699C

In with new pads and ProGrade Rotors 56641R The old rotors were rusted and toast.

Embedded new pads and feels good. Slight improvement over what was on there. Done.
