These cars use blend doors and mode doors used usually a vacuum. Check not only your vacuum lines but also your switches to run these, if there is a bad switch, cut wire, or excessive resistance it will not work properly. Also under the PCM in the engine comparment Drivers side is a vacuum resivoir with a filtered soleniod. Make sure that it is purging and filling correctly and the soleniod does not have execessive resistance or will take quite a long time to fill.

If you have non wanted air coming from places where they should not be coming from when you have it set on a specific setting then the problem is the motor that moves the doors open and closed, or you might just have a door that is not shutting completely. for example if you have it on defrost and there is air coming from the floor, check those bottom doors to see if they are stuck or something is restricting them. If not you will have to get access to find out where your motor is for your doors. Make sure everything is connected to that and it is working properly you WILL be able to see it move your doors to direct air when you turn the selection on your *** if it doesn't replace it. Also one other thing to check would be your selector switch itself, if the switch is bad it won't send the proper signal.
Good luck, tell me how it goes

did some research...this problem could be electrical, vacuum, motor, switch, evap canister,.... :?
anyway, chrome bonnie,
i have the automatice climate control system. so everything is electronic....sometimes the electronic control panel goes bad (happened in my bonnie) sometimes there is a lack of vacuum...and sometimes it is purely electrical/switching. no sure which one...but the passenger side of the car is blowing freezing cold air...(passenger climate control is set all the way to hot)...and when i first start the car (after it was previously warmed up) the air blows warm for a few minutes...then it will blow cold...for about 60-80 seconds, then switch back to hot...the whole time the setting is set to 90 degrees. does the outside temp gauge (mine is removed) have anything to do with the interior climate control?

Default Clean the evap.

I had the same exact problem, air/heat only from the defrost and the floor. This apparently is a default setting so you can at least get some stuff on the windshield for defrosting. The problem is in the evap coil. It'* a little tricky but I did in about a half hour. Search the site for evap cleaning, somebody has posted pix of how to do it. What has happened is your coil has clogged with crap and isn't letting air move through. It'* located under the fuse block in the engine compartment on the passenger side. You will only have a small opening to work in, I used biodegradable degreaser and a wire brush, GENTLY, then I used a garden pump sprayer with water to rinse it out, worked great. First time in ten years that I have had air flow in all the vents.

Dak70....check the dates on the threads and post before responding. This particular one is 6 years old and many of the members in the post have not contributed for several years.
