Default engine died coming to a stop.

I have a 97 PA sc. It has been running good no problems other then a SC idler pully seized up an through the belt off, a couple weeks ago, an two days ago battery had dead cell so had to replace that. driving home last night engine died while I was slowing down to turn, it will crank over with ease, but will not fire up at all, only cranks away. No codes no warning just shut down an won't fire had to get a tow truck to get it home.
I could use some help in pointing me to checks and test to chasing this down an get it fixed.
I did extensive work on this car a couple yrs ago an it ran like new till now. lol change fuel tank an sensor, gaskets on engine plugs wires all kinds of stuff all around the car. thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
In my searching, I've not had luck in picking the right words to use in my search?

Could possible be the crank sensor. Do you have spark? Is fuel getting to the engine?

will check sunday I think it is going to warm up a little. I think I heard the fuel pump, it could of been air ride compressor pump? where is best place to check fuel? I can use timing light to check spark. will post what I find.
Would the crank sensor leave a code? if not how do I test it? I found no codes.

Check all your fuses. Is it getting spark when turning over? When you spray quick start into intake and turn it over what happens? When key is turned to on position do you hear the fuel pump in the tank run for 3/5 seconds? Nail it down to no spark or fuel.

Best way to check fuel is at the fuel rail with a gauge.

Like the guys have said, check the basics....

When a car won't start, that makes diagnosis easy compared to an intermittent start......

Try spraying cab cleaner into the intake while someone cranks the vehicle....if it starts/runs as long as you spray, you have a fuel delivery problem......either no fuel pressure(check at schraeder valve on fuel rail with a gauge), or the injectors are not firing(no reference signal to PCM)......can also check for injector pulse at the injector harnesses with a noid light....

Check for spark with a spark tester, on all cylinders.....

No spark and no injector pulse could be a crank sensor or ICM......

Spark with no injector pulse could be an ICM....

Try starting with the MAF disconnected?

What did you do with the SC'er?

well I have no power to the spark plugs using a inline tester. I'll need to read up on testing injector pulse like where to find it and how to test it. getting garage cleared out I've been working on receiver hitch an motor bike carrier an tinkering with a Honda 90. so I got tools spread everywhere. anyway I would rather do it in the garage this time of the year. I am thinking crank sensor so that'* what I will gear up for an get car indoors so I can stay comfy. lol I' m gettin too old for this.
SC iIdler pulley seized up an thru the belt had idler an tension pulleys replaced along with belt. they managed to tear motor mount up front of car, the easy one, an lost the harden bolt with the locking nut, they said they didn't touch any of that. it was there before an gone when I got it home? Makes me wonder if they could sabotage the crank sensor to get more work, I ain't takin nothing there again, after by-passes, heart ain't what it was. but i'll trudge along an get er done. now for injector testing. Thanks for bearing with me.

crank sensor is on motor behind belt so it may have gotten damaged when belt went off. very good possibility, start there first. had crank sensor go on 3.8 Buick did this exact thing.

well got car in my garage up on stands front wheel pulled an can't break the harmonic balancer bolt loose, tried counter an clockwise an it doesn't want to budge at all. it has only been on two years, any hints on getting this off? will heating it with a propane torch help? heat it up an let it cool off? I'm not as strong as I use to be so need to cheat with this. lol thanks
