Default 96 Buick Century Motor Swap

So in my previous yrs I owed a 92 Cadillac Seville TS and loved the 4.9L FWD was a pretty quick response now I have a 96 Buick Century SWagon how hard do you think it would be to put a 4.9L in the Buick think it be cool to make a sleeper plus its almost historical

I would think a Series 2 L67 would be an easier task. Everything would have to be a full custom build however.

The '92 4.9 only has 200 horsepower packed under it in a much heavier car. An L67 is packing 240hp, in a lighter car. Even in stock form it may be more than you bargained for. Ponies are usually easy to acquire on the L67 platform as well.

Even if the 4.9 fit, it would be really cramped in there.

I agree, 4.9 is so underpowered at 200hp.

A 3800 series 2 L67 is almost the same size as the 3.0 or 3.4 that'* already in the Buick.

See I was thinking that but my brother had a problem with his and I never had a problem with my 4.9L, but I was thinking the L67 because like you said its a lighter motor, any idea what would be needed to do the swap I plan on buying everything new because car is currently in restore mode

For a swap of this magnitude, I usually vote for obtaining a donor car. Usually wrecked units that took a side/rear hit that were in good condition are favored. I am thinking something like a 97+ supercharged W-body.

That will get you the engine, transmission, computer, axles, mounts, etc.

There will need to be a lot of custom things to make it work, and the amount of info on swaps is relatively rare. Most who do these swaps do not start with "what do I need" and "make me a list". They usually know where to start, but may run in to small details that they are not sure of the best approach to overcome, such as a specific engine mount, which axle to use, etc.

If you really do plan to pull the swap off, you will need to do a bunch of your own research, and formulate your own plan to make it happen. Many people have put the L67 into many things, so there should be plenty of data.
