Default EGR Valve gasket

I'm going to remove the EGR valve from my 1994 Le Sabre to check for any carbon build up. Car has 75k now, just a preventive maint. type check.

After looking on line at the usual box stores, I see two different style. With filter screen and with out? Any suggestions on this?

Thanks
Joel

Get both, return the unused one.

Yea, I have done that several times in the past! Mostly I was just curious on the w/screen and wo/screen choice. Looks like just the aftermarket offers this anyway, I'll just buy the AC Delco.

Thanks

I thought about getting the screen, but heard of some rare cases where it caused a nice sized chunk of carbon to get caught on the screen, and that impeded the EGR gas flow.

I just went with a regular AC Delco for mine.
While you are at it you may want to clean the EGR Valve/Valve Pintle before putting it back

That'* exactly my thought on the screen.
I'll check the port passage also, this was a common problem on the 3100 engine in that Grand Prix I had.

Big difference in the port passage between the 3100 and 3800.....never a problem for the 3800......

Problem for the 3100 was the flashing in the opening of the upper plenum, restricted flow when EGR was opened at it'* smallest opening....this usually happened on a decel and the MAP couldn't register a change in pressure....

Usually saw the screened egr gaskets used on the 4.3'*....
