Question 4t60e and 4t65 final drive exchange

Hi everyone,
I am Joy and have owned GM all my life. Would never change. My question is on a 1995 Buick Riviera with an L67 and 4t60E transmission. We have acquired a serta approximately 2006 4t65. What I would like to know is can we exchange the final drive parts? We are aware that that 4t65 is all electronic. We will only exchange hard parts. Can this be done?
so glad I found you!

If I remember correctly, no. The differential has different cut teeth between 94, 95 and 96 and will not interchange. My manual doesn't cover 2006.

Here is my ATSG manual, that covers the middle years, but not 2006. It will at least give you an idea.

Yes you are speaking of the reverse fine teeth. If you replace the whole final drive does it matter with the two cases and are the drive shafts a different size?

also, I read up on the 1995 Rivi with L67 and it said that the only trans would be 4T60E HD. That is not marked on the pan just 4t60E. Does that mean that it is or isn't HD? I was wandering if you could send me the manual on 4T65E so I can look at side by side, unless they use general pictures?

They used a generic pan on the 65. It also uses a beefier diff which is bigger. Only way to tell is by looking at the trans model tag when it comes to identifying. This will also give you the ratio also.

Default 4t65 e-manual

thank you Mike. Does anyone have a 4t65 tech manual that I could get to compare parts?
