So many Pontiacs
Here I am comfortably in the Buick forum. Most of the general forums are Pontiac. Is this because
1 More Pontiacs are sold
2 More Pontiacs break down
3 More Pontiac owners have computers
4 There is a Buick forum elsewhere
I just bought this Buick cuz my mechanic recommended Buicks...should I have bought a Pontiac?

This site started off as a Bonneville forum. It started expanding to include other 3800 powered cars such as the Grand Prix and Regal. We have now opened up the forum to include all GM brand cars. So the site is growing and filling in those areas with less cars.

It'* only a matter of time before the Buick section becomes just as popular as the Pontiac section. Consider yourself lucky, when the Buick section grows to a large size, you'll be one of the first members!

Relax my Buick loving buddy....there'* converted Buick guys here. Plus it'* all GM and nearly all the same. You have a Century and I have a Regal. The differences are pretty minor until you want to talk about the motor.

Like was mentioned earlier, This site used to be a Bonneville site, hence all the pontiacs here.
The differences between buicks and pontiacs really aren't that big. It'* really a matter of looks, comfort, and what style you want in your car..the drive trains are the same
So to answer your question, No you shouldn't have bought a Pontiac..buicks are great cars too.
We are glad that you found our site, as there is a lot of knowledgeable members on here and we are all here to help in any way that we can!

Ever heard of the _-body platform?
For example, a gm w-body consist of the following:
Chevy Lumina
Chevy Monte Carlo
Buick Regal
Buick Century
Pontiac Grand Prix
Oldsmobile Intrigue
Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
All of these have, with some degrees of variance depending on options, the same suspension, the same transmissions, the same engines, the same engine bay, the same mechanical aspects, and the only real differences are what engine went in which, what the interior looks like, and what the exterior looks like. Strip each of those cars down to remove the exterior panels and the interior and you'll find they're identical.
Bonnevilles are h-bodies. Do a google search for GM h-body and on the wiki page you'll see all the different models. They're really not that different.
The thing here is that GM'* mentality was to provide a car that could service you "from the cradle to the grave." The general idea was that you'd start with a Chevy, move up to a Pontiac, an Oldsmobile, a Buick, and ultimately a Cadillac. It just so happens that Pontiac owners by nature of advertising will be more likely to be enthusiasts.
I own a 95 Buick Regal, and to my knowledge there are only 3 1st gen w-body (89-96) Buick Regals with L67 engine swaps, and to my knowledge mine is the only one with as heavy of suspension modifications. However, there are plenty of Grand Prixs, even though all of the modifications apply to both in identical fashions.

Trust me, there are already plenty of Buick forums. Although, they tend to cater to either the G body Regals (like my 87), or the newer W body Regal GS. Other models have had to pick up ideas from cross platform models.
I came here because the LeSabre isn't really supported anywhere, but it is an H Body like the Bonneville. So many of the mods to the Bonneville can be done to a LeSabre. Hence, where I got my FE5 suspension idea. And that was back when it was still a Bonneville forum.
You can attribute this to a couple ideas. Most non-Regal Buick owners wont modify their cars. Cars like the Century and the LeSabre weren't really considered marketed towards the "performance-mindset". Pontiac, on the other hand, was marketed toward performance oriented owners, and hence, more are likely to make upgrades and modify their cars. Then there are the rogue Buick owners, who like to modify our cars like crazy, because we enjoy the "goes fast, looks slow" sleeper effect.
