I have a 2002 Buick Century, and I have a power windows question. All the windows work, however the switch for the driver'* window works exactly backward. When you press it to lower the window, the window goes up. When you press for up, it goes down. Express down works as express up. The other 3 windows work as expected.
Any thoughts?

Well, there are only 3 possibilities.......a bad switch, or wiring, or motor.....

Usually a bad switch is an open, not a reversal of voltage......and have never heard of a motor being reversed....

if someone somehow reversed the dk blue(terminal E) wire with the brown wire(terminal D), in the harness to the switch......

The other possibility is the wires are switched in the harness to the motor, or, that the harness was forced in the wrong way(Highly doubtful)....

Without doing any diagnosis, it'* an easy fix......disconnect the harness to the switch or motor, and reverse the wires...you will need a pick or paper clip to release the tang holding the connector in the plastic harness....

Has it done this since you owned the vehicle?

Yes, I got the car last April and have been doing more important repairs to it. I'm now getting to less critical systems, like this. What was done to it before I got it is unknown.

Then a crossed wire at the switch or at the motor is likely the problem. If it had worked when you first owned the car, and then did not work all of a sudden, a crossed wire would be less likely. Wires don't magically jump from one connection to another. You can spend all sorts of time figuring out what happening, or simply reverse the wires. Switching the wires at the motor involves removing the door panel. Switching the wires at the switch is much easier.

Thank you. I have reason to suspect that the door panel has been removed before, so crossed wires at the motor is possible. However, I will switch them at the switch, since that will be easier.

Or just live with the switch working backwards.
