OK, with key off, jumper 4 to 8....now turn the key to "on".....

The locks should cycle......if they did, that'* good......if they didn't, there is a problem....

You said they did.....

Now, I assume you have the old fob.....did it ever work with the car? If it ever did, we know we have the right fob.....if you bought a new one, the P/N on the back of the old fob, should match the number on the new fob(there are many fobs out there that look alike, but if the numbers don't match, they might not work).....

If the old fob, never worked, then you can't be sure if that is the correct fob, if you are not the original owner of the vehicle......so go to a GM Parts department, to verify that you have the correct fob....and while you are there, they have a tool that can check the output of a fob, to make sure it it working on ALL THE BUTTONS......once again, while you are at the Parts Dept., have them check the numbers of the fobs.....sometimes the P/N may change over time, so double check the P/N on the back of the fobs, while you are there...

As the video instructed, make sure after the locks cycle, you press and hold BOTH lock and unlock buttons, until until the locks cycle....this can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute........

If everything is all correct, it may be good to replace batteries in remotes as well, especially if you don't know exactly how old they are.

The day before the last two posts I gave up and took it to the Cadillac dealer 2 miles from my house . The local Buick dealer won't work on any thing over 10 years old , even though the car is rust free and has 33,000 miles on it .

Got the car back today and all is well .

The original key fob was bad , the two new ones were good but for another car according to the dealer . The radio was a fuse , but I changed it even though it checked out good .Is there more than one radio fuse ? Also the cassette lights were lit , two fuses ??? Service guy told be the tech had several hours in the job but he was only going to charge me $390.00 .

Dealers love it when you tell them to fix it. Most people don't understand diagnostic labor rate. The shop, can and will charge you $110 per hour DIAGNOSTIC just to figure out what'* wrong. Then charge you more labor to fix it.

Yes, that cost was ridiculous.....

Off the top of my head, I suggested that the remotes should be checked to see if they worked, and if they were the correct ones, just by going to the Parts Dept.......this should have taken a Tech, no more than 10 minutes to figure out.....

As for that Buick place, I would call Customer Service and tell them what you told us......that place SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS, if it can't fix it'* own cars!

And when you go into a shop, never give them more than 1 hour diagnostic time.....and then have them give estimates for the repair.....$390 is crazy, for what was done.......

OK , had the intake manifold and head gasket replaced , there wasn't a problem but I knew eventually there would be . Had one bad motor mount so I had all of them replaced . Then the key fob and anti theft crap taken care of . Car now runs and feels like a new car , except for one thing . I feel a little quiver while starting the car , my neighbor a decent mechanic says he feels nothing . I don't have a lot of experience with these FWD older Buick'* , so is this normal ?? Other than the quiver you would think the car was new , as far as ride handling and performance goes . OH and with the hood opened , I had my neighbor start the car and every thing looked normal ???

A head gasket should never be replaced on a 3800 without cause. They don't fail without reason.

Not sure what you mean by quiver. This was the era of the recalled fuel pressure regulators, but they fail by dumping fuel in to the vacuum lines.

The intake manifold was slightly warped and the head gaskets it turns out were on their way out . I figured with 34,000 miles and being 19 years old just do it and get it over with . The quiver is happens while cranking , as soon as it starts it'* smooth as silk .

Thanks ! TheReaper!
