Default Transmission knocking?

Alright guys.Im kind of dumbfounded with this one.I explained it to gunner also and he even had no clue. The transmission in my 97 lesabre is knocking. Its not the tc or tc bolts.i put it on the hoist and had someone in it starting and shutting it off and i determined it was strongly from the rear cover where i beleive the 1-2 shift servo is..it also has a shudder when it wants to shift into fourth gear..And if you gun it it will ''slip'' more like nothing is there then it will slam into gear.also when i come to a stop its not down shifting on time and will slam into first after im stopped.then when i go to take off it acts like i just did a nuetral drop..im thinking a sticky valve or two?..But what is the knocking? sounds just like a rod knock.but from that cover...any ideas? also it only does it after warmed up not when cold

Well, I would say drop the bottom pan. And see what you find. If you find something other then fluid, you may want to look at replacing the trans. Noise is not a good thing. Before you get to that point. Unbolt the torque converter and slide it back. Start the engine and see if the knock is still there.

Don't the 4T65-E'* have TCC solenoids? Just another idea, I know that thats in the side cover though and dont think the converter would give those type of problems. hmm

Your noise and slipping issue sounds like what my 95 did a few years ago. The differential pinion pin broke and all the metal shavings found its way into the filter clogging it. The sound you might be hearing is the pump cavitating. I had a video somewhere, but alas, cannot find it.

I've seen my share of aluminum rats nests in the bottom pan.
