Angry 1994 Buick Lesabre Problems

New to Forum took me a week to figure out how to post. Here is what I have, a few problems I need to fix:

1. There is some kind of a knocking noise coming from left front/top strut, every time I hit a bump it knocks. I have not had time to get it into the garage yet. Thought you all might give me an idea where to start looking for the problem. I did a cursory inspection and saw nothing out of place. This car has brand new struts and cv axles.

2. The other day the transmission totally disconnected, engine revved wild, speedometer went to zero, than it reconnected, speedometer resumed indicating.. Did this three times one day and never again. I have driven it 500 miles since than and no problem.

3.The very next day I was driving in a snowstorm (here in Minnesota) and the engine started to stall, died twice. I got pulled over to side of road and it re-started both times. Once again this happened the very next day after the tranny disconnected on me. Once again 500 miles, no problems since that second day.

I had a check engine light, Precision Tune pulled the code said it was transmission converter code prior to all of this happening.

This is a spare car for me and want to sell it. I have driven it for 5000 miles with no problems at all. The day I had a potential buyer in the seat was the day the transmission disconnected. Made me look like a liar, because I just told him how great a car it was for me.

When I first bought this car I changed all fluids, transmission, engine, coolant and all filters, plugs, rotor, cap. Just replaced starter only to find out it was a corroded main battery cable. After talking to some mechanics we have come to conclusion there is some kind of a bad electrical connection. The transmission seems solid, shifts great with no slippage. Tranny oil is still nice and clean. I just bought a new crankshaft sensor to change out but it has not acted up since that one day.

I plan on getting it into the garage (25 below zero here) and start checking all the electrical connections, and grounds, to the transmission and the main wiring harness.

My question is: Would the two problems be connected?? Any body'* input is appreciated. I am a shade tree mechanic, when it comes to this car, however; ask me about my Powerstrokes and I might be able to help you.

PS is a bad word so im going to pretend you didnt say it and try to help anyway.

1 did they replace the strut mounts? did you look at the sway bar and end links? they often rust apart

2 and 3 sound like an electrical issue, like snow getting in to a bad connection or something. the engine ground has to be good for everything (starter, trans, etc) to work properly
