Default HELP- need answers to questions please.

Hello again. I have a 1999 Park Ave and the ash tray in the center lower area of the dash won't hold in the closed position. What'* the problem and fix for this?
Second question - HELP BEFORE COLD WEATHER. Have not owned the car but a few months. Needed some heat the other day and can only get heat from the passengers outlets. Cold air only from the drivers outlets. On a cold day the cold air wins out over the warm air - not good. Thanks in advance for help on these questions.

jw linked ya up good. as for the ashtray, theyre super crappy in our cars. every single park ave ive ever driven has a broken ashtray. even the ones on carmax.com and other used car ads, you rarely see one with the ashtray up. its a little plastic tab that breaks. the only fix is to replace the entire ashtray. which is removed with about 4 bolts on the metal piece behind the part that folds down. thats also how you replace the ashtray bulb. poor design if you ask me.

hope we were some help

Thanks guys for the updates on my questions.
I have tackled the hot/cold issue with my HVAC and found the AIR MIX ACTUATOR on the drivers side to be defective. Opened it up and found a broken gear (as shown on one of the threads JW led me to). I'm off next week to the U-Pull-It to find a used unit. I found the Actuator on eBay for $100+ but I'm expecting a used ond to work as well and at a much lower price.
Tater, I expect to look for a new/used ashtray at the JY next week also. Color match, I'm sure, will make it more challenging but just wondering if the part that is defective can be moved to my unit. I will post findings and repair outcomes on my issues when I complete (or abandon) the repairs.
Later - Eddie

if you disassemble everything you should be able to take the broken tab out. i cant remember if its on the gear or not, its been forever lol. but color match shouldn't be too terribly hard, these cars only came with the tan and grey. good luck!

i just went out to the car with the phone today and thought about your post and looked for the latch... and from what i can tell unless you bake it and melt it apart you cant change the front faschia to remove/fix the clip :( heres a video of the clip though and how it works.
