CV Axel gear ratio
How do I determine the CV Joint gear ratio on a 2001 Buick LeSabre. I was going to order one off internet but there were three different axel'* with different gear ratio'* to choose from. I noticed that this was not an issue at the Auto Parts Store. Does it really make a difference which one to purchase?

there are different transmissions depending if you have the sc3800 or regular one. but it doesnt have anything to do with ratio, in fact at least on bonnivilles the base se and ssei SC have the same ratio. the only one that is different is the middle one but the cv should be the same between the se and sse/sle. normally the other brands follow. as far as your ratio there should be a rpo code list on the spare cover on that car.
FQ3 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.86
FR2 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.93
FW2 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 3.06
F17 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.84
F79 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.97
F83 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 3.05
GX3 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 3.33
