Default '03 Lesabre cabin fan

My Duel Automatic Climate Control System fan'* (cabin blower) runs sporadically. If I set the fan speed to its maximum setting it will blow like crazy than slow down, sometimes pulsates, or quit blowing all together even though the fan'* speed is set the maximum speed. Sometimes when I drive over a bump in the road the fan will begin to blow. Same results with manual or automatic temperature settings. Any ideas?

You do realize, when the system is in the "auto mode", that fan speed will not be constant......it will vary, it can be high, and it can go to the lowest extreme....the only time the fan will be at a set, constant speed is when the system is in manual mode......

If going over bumps changes speed or causes it to go on or off......then you could have a bad connection at the blower module or the blower motor, or you have a bad blower motor(brushes/windings)....

Disconnect the harness at the blower module and blower motor....look for melted plastic in the harness, or arcing at the contacts of the harness or contacts of the module or blower.....

If you turn the blower on and it doesn't move, give the motor housing a love tap with a handle of a screwdriver....if the motor runs, you need a motor....

Thanks for the help. Removed, dissembled, and cleaned the electric motor/brushes/armature. A lot of debris and corrosion was found inside the motor. I used compressed air and an electrical motor spray cleaner and lub. The result, the fan blows fast and on demand.

I didn't know fan motors were serviceable. Oh well, learn something new every day.

I didn't either, and ended up replacing for these very issues.

Well, hopefully it'* a permanent fix.

I have heard that with electric fans & motors that new brushes could often restore them to good working order.
Sounds to me like Mike from CLe has done this before, and knows his way around electric motors well.
If I tried this...there would be broken wires /windings and magnets falling off..

Well yea, that'* the thing. Most of these Delphi motors are permanately enclosed and cannot be opened to "repair" them. Unless one were to destroy it.

Next time, the OP should take pictures of what he did.
