Ne heat shields here, my plug wires had the heat shields on them. I either got rid of them, or stashed them away when I switched to aftermarket plug wires. I did notice the aftermarket wires looked a little crooked like they were getting hot when I recently switched to lifetime warranty plug wires.

But... I was only answering his question!!!
I understand doing it yourself gives one a sense of accomplishment, but I notice a few things about 'ripping off heat shields' and things... If it'* done right, wouldn't you put those heat shields back on??
Just a thought....

We know, we are all just stubborn DIYs here! This is another situation in which "to each his own" applies. Some prefer to be loyal to a dealership and have them do all the work, some prefer the experience of doing it themselves. My car only had one previous owner, and they had a service log dating back to the very beginning from the same dealership. That helped them squeeze every penny out of me. I don't plan on selling the car though, so I do all my own work (or watch as someone else shows me how).

I don't trust anyone else to work on my car, it goes back to the whole "If you want it done right" saying. I took my last car in for an oil change and had a leak afterwards, turns out the oil plug was only a few threads in
