Default Rough Shifting

Lately when I shift from park to drive or vise versa I notice that sometimes that the car jerks backwards slightly. I am not moving the lever slowly allowing it to engage in reverse either. It almost seems like the engine is revving to fast and engaging in reverse while I am moving the lever to drive. Also when the tranny engages in drive there is a bit of a clunk. The engine is idling at 700 rpm'*. Is that normal RPM'* at idle or should it be lower?? Any suggestions?

Clunk doesnt sound good. Mine idles @ 750 when it calms down from starting. It does try to go into reverse when the "choke" is on and I'm a little slow on the shifter. I have 42k now and no clunk. A faint slippage between 3rd and 4th at low throttle country driving. Maybe wear, maybe T/C lock getting quirky.

I think the engine mount is my problem too. The dealer doesnt get it though. Called it normal operation. Time to go to the dealer that sells Caddies, they will likely know there stuff better!!

Took her to the Caddy/Pontiac dealer. The foreman came and took her for a ride. He agreed that there seems to be a problem and was open to doing a full inspection on the engine mounts. Does anyone know if there is a Technical Service Bulletin for this. I used to subscribe to ALLdata but havent in a few years.

Just got a call from the dealer that agreed to fully inspect the engine mount. The engine mount is cracked and is being replaced. I guess I will be switching dealerships!! The other dealer tried to tell me there was nothing wrong the car. Boy are they going to get an ear full!!!
