Rear rattle, whap!
Someone tell me if I'm posting in the wrong place and redirect me, I don't do this often. I got a whap developing in the back of the Bonnie. Can anyone tell me a bit about strut mounts, rear struts, the load leveler, etc?
This has been a noise, intermittent to particule quick bumps, kinda catching the drivers rear suspension asleep and lets a slap out to tell you! I've been looking for a bit and finally had the Mrs take me around in the trunk and appears the top of the srut moves about.
Can yinz guys tell me how'* the mount work?
Oh ya,

Struts are bolted solid. No play. Perhaps a bolt/* came loose? Make sure the rear coils spring hasnt lost one of its rubber mounts. All they holds the sp[ring in place and only a plastic rivet holds them. Had a hard time with a bottom spring mount when I went back to the rear OEM suspension. Ended up drilling two holes through the mount plate and rubber mount and using some fat washers to keep it in place.

Sounds like I got a bit of research to do, thanks for the start. I'll post some pics tomorrow of the top.
I need to understand risk, if any. Gas strut under load? What spring mount should look like, etc. Are the components from the MacPherson suspension differnt on the GXP from SEI (other than load leveler)
Gaul-darn if I'm not a mere 1400 miles out of my extend warranty!!!

The strut has air pressure in it. But no real danger, your not taking it out.If you were, you'd just jack up the car and take the fitting off the strut with the key off before you removed it. Jack the car up till the tire is just off the ground, block it, then try to move it back and forth to see if there is any movement. There should not be side to side. The coil spring rubber mounts are on top and bottom and have a cone shaped "bump" through the center of the spring. Just make sure they are there and centered. Make sure one of the ends of the coils isn't broke off. They spiral inwards top and bottom from center.
