Problems with my aurora....
I have a 95 Aurora starting. It is telling me to clean key and try again in 3 mins. I have a work around and that is to uplug the battery for 12 hours come back and start the car. It is the Keypass 2 system. I have decided to put in a remote starter with a VAT bypass. The problem I am having now is that I cant find a wiring diagram for my colum or my car for that matter anyplace. I would take any info on this that i could. Is the Bonneville wired the same? I huge thanks in advance for any info yall can give.

I would check the little chip on your key to make sure its not damaged and still present. If you know your dealer, go speak with the service manager. Ask if you could maybe see the service manual and photocopy the wiring diagram.
My GM dealer has been very helpful in that regard. Worth a shot. Or failing that, pick up a Riviera/Aurora Service manual of Ebay,
Good luck
btw, nice choice in car

the saga
Thanks for info. I have check with dealer and he coded the key with a "6" and he felt that the key was stable. He said it never really had any flux while he was testing. He felt it was not the key. I have opened a subscription with www.alldatadiy.com on the car but cant seem to find the diagram i am looking for. I love my aurora but if i dont fix this soon my wife is going to make me sell it and i dont want to!!

Its not worth giving up the car due to something like this. Tell you what....one of our members TaylorD, used to have a 96 Aurora like mine. Fire him a nice Private Message seeing if he can get you a scan or a photocopy of the wiring diagram.
I have even intention of getting a service manual (from him actually) but havent gotten around to working out a deal
I would still ask the dealer to get a photocopy of the proper diagram. Its worth a shot.

Thanks Jim
I went back to dealer and tried to talk to him about it more. Nothing he had not a drop of info for me as far as diagrams. I asked if i could talk to an olds or gm mechanic and there were none there with any free time. I understand that i am sure there busy. I guess i am going to try and find a installer localy that can do this work. I am in Dallas and just dont know what to do. Jim my wife is Canadian and is very practical about sepending money on cars that dont want to start.... hehe.... I told her that i have been speaking to another fella from Canada with the same car and she said...bah..no canadians would be taken for a ride to the cleaners in a car like mine... oh well... she is a lovely person i promise.

Bugs me when dealers won't assist customers like that You'd figure you purchased one of their products and they would want to assist in any way.
I wish I could be more of a help.
And I'm sure your wife is darling, tell her I said hi!

True Car Nut
only in the states that they won't help unless you have money
WHERE'* THE BACON AIE ???
Well.. I don't know the wiring diagram for your car.. but if you ever get the tumbler out, there will be 2 wires that goes to thel ( black piece with the 2 ears ) on the tumbler.. thats the reader. I don't remember what #6 is as far as resistance reading.. you might want to PM Deathrat or simply get an ohmeter and read it ( can borrow one from Radio Shack.. simply just take your key in ). Then simply purchase the correct diode resistance.. then again.. have to look for which wire to splice to... Jim.. why don't you ask one of the shops around here to find out which wire to tap into or a shop that wires remote starter. ?? Show em what Canadians are other then beer drinking teeth missing hockey nuts..

more than likely you have a bad ignition switch. It is a common problem with the Riviera/Aurora. The sensor inside of the switch makes a poor contact with the key causing the security system to think it'* the wrong key. That'd be my guess anyway. I've had this same problem with my riv too, When I had my remote starter installed I just had them bypass it.
