problems with dealer and GXP brakes
ok so heres the situation...my father asked me to see if anybody else has had these problems with the dealerships when it comes to the brakes and their warranty...my mother owns an 04 GXP and it was in april of last year for a brake pad problem and now my father took the car in toady (15,000 miles later) while its still under warranty and the dealership is trying to tell him that the brakes have had normal wear and tear (yea right!!!!!) and are trying to charge him for a brake job...any suggestions on what to do or some of your experiences...
and ive been tryin to tell him to get ceramic brake pads but he doesnt listen

Go with ceramic pads. It solves all problems. If he doesn't want to, and he wants the dealer to do it under warranty, call Pontiac customer care and file a complaint. Or tell the dealer you intend to.

I agree with Will bud, that you should go to dealer, then call customer care if they wont budge,... when it comes to GM service the louder you grind your gears at them the more they'lll grease them. But on GM'* side,... unless an actual parts malfunction happens to brake system, pad wear is not coverd and expressly stated. I am a real braking, and accerlerating demon and rarely get 15,000 miles out of pads. And as Will said, better off doing it yourself and go ceramic because dealer played dumb with me and said ceramic not avalible thru them.

My in-laws bought an 05 Saturn Vue last year with maybe a 1k miles on the clock, 6 months later it failed inspection because the brake pads had worn down to far. My father in-law took it back to the dealership and they took care of the pads even though pads aren't coverred under warranty. it had barely 9k miles on it at that point.

I agree...GXP stock brakes suck. I would get mine changed if I drove the car more.

Will pops in here now and then, But here'* a link further down the pages of a few members who have switched to ceramics. And they report better braking power and no dust.. Advance seems the place to have them.

GXP Brakes
The dust from the stock brakes is the worst I have ever seen, even after detailing and waxing wheels a 12 mile drive and the dust begins to return. I have been unable to locate any suitable replacements. Has anyone else had any success?
