Default Does GM know anything about their own GXP????

I purchased my 2004 GXP June of this year (2005). I was thumbing throught the owners manual and noticed they didnt have any of the specs on the Northstar Engine. I went to the dealership parts department and asked if there was a different manual for the GXP. The gentleman called the supplier of the manual who said there was not. To make a very long story short after numerous phone calls to GM Canada it was determined there is a different manual. If you have a GXP you should have the B First Edition (it will have different procedures for the Northstar). Also, I asked the rep. why they dont make a bra for the GXP (I know, I know - they scratch the car. But for long trips they protect the car). She responded by saying, "Sir, I am guessing GM only makes bras for sport models". Boy did I have a laugh.

I also found out that GM has changed the oil filter part number for this car. The first listing I got was PF61. I went back to get another filter and they gave me a PF59C. I was changing the filter and I noticed the difference. Not wanting to put the wrong filter on the vehicle I waited till the next day. Once again after calling numerous dealerships it was determined that the first oil filter was discontinued. So you can use a PF59C on your GXP.

Now I am working on winter rims and tires for the vehicle. I was told the outside diameter of the tire must be the same as factory otherwise the antilock and the ABS wouldnt function properly. Once again GM has no answers. They cant tell me if 17 inch rims will fit on the car.

Finally I noticed the windshileld on the drivers side was up higher than the passenger side. I looked on the GXP forum and noticed that GXPer had the same problem. I took the car to the dealership and they accused me of having the windshild replaced. I went to a different dealership and they are going to deal with it.

Wow this car is going to be a challenge.

Putting all this aside the car is awesome and a hoot to drive!!!

PS. I have the Adobe version of the Owners Manual
