Broken shift **** on 2005 GXP
I had to have the shift **** replaced a week ago, the car has 52K miles on it. The part cost $155 plus labour, and my extended warranty didn't cover it.
Anyone else experienced this?

The caution here is that if it fails while it'* in park, you're stuck in park and will need the car towed...

you can always pull the tab out of the shifter, take the **** off, and use your thumb to depress the pin...
I have never heard of a **** breaking in the 3 years I have been here.

hi, my shift button popped out last fall, my car only had 25,000 miles on it but was out of warranty, I didn't want to pay close to $200 for a new shifter so, i keep the button in the ashtray, and place it into the shifter when i need to use it. Pain in the neck!

I have always thought the shifter was flimsy for a high end car. I have been extra careful with my shifting from reverse back to drive, knowing it isnt that sturdy.
