As for GM helping cover ****, good luck. With their imminent bankruptcy, it seems like they really don't give a **** about their customers anymore.

Well, my car is at the dealer getting the cluster replaced. A refurbished unit w/labor
goes for $450. I guess that'* what the repair is going to be, a refurbished unit from now on. I was in contact w/ GM about it and they seemed quite agreeable to look into some sort of help with my issues. Will keep you posted.

The problem w/ brakes was completely covered under warranty, so I had no say as to what rotors were installed.

I also have a "groan" in the steering at times. It was diagnosed as the high pressure steering line. It was replaced, but I still get this sound. It also makes the steering tight. I think it'* the rack, anybody want to interject?

If your paying for the cluster, i guess that'* a good deal. They go almost $620 for a new one. Hope it has some sort of warranty attached to it. Been quite a few cluster failures here, Keeping my fingers crossed and liking my extended warranty. The IM shaft isnt a "groan" But a very definite clunk clunk clunk. Hope they get it pin pointed. Havent heard of a rack/groan problem here as of yet. Your a first, Somehow I dont think that'* making you feel special. Please keep us informed. GXP'* are just getting the miles racked up to show their weak spots.

I had the groan problem with my steering. It usually happened when I was manouvering in a parking lot. I had complained numerous times and of course the GM Dealer could never duplicate the problem. It was getting worse so I took it back. They drove it around for an hour and as they were about to give up they made a turn in the parking lot and it groaned. They replaced a power steering hose per a TSB. The car has been fine since.

Bill, what happend with the main front seal leak. I took my car to a mechanic friend of mine who said the front main seal was sweating. He told me a full leak was soon to come. I took it to the dealership and they wouldnt touch it.

I haven't been too proactive on the leak as of yet. I have no spot on the driveway so it can't be that bad or it just started. BTW, GM told me to go pound sand on my complaint about my cluster. The CS rep told me she spoke to my dealer and he said that I had "No Maintenace" history with the dealership. I asked what that meant, she said I don't bring the car in for maintenance. He failed to tell her my '99 Cadillac was repaired there exclusively, and my '95 Grand Am also. I said as a former ASE certified technician (GM Tech in the 70'*) I do all my maintenance myself. Then I said what type of maintenance was needed on a 27K mile car besides oil changes and tire rotation? She had no answer and went right for the corporate rhetoric of "GM is concerned about your complaint". Well if your so interested, do something about it. Then she offered me a 12 month maintenance pkg free of charge. HELLO... MCFLY!!! WTF did I just tell you about maintenance.
I told her my wife and I were comsidering a new Acadia as our next vehicle, but since GM considers me a valued customer, I going to replace my wifes Montero with another Japanese SUV. I proceeded to tell her that not once in the 6 years I've owned said SUV, 52K (2002), was it in dealer for a part failure. It was in the dealer once for a minor recall in 2005. Can't say that about my GM products. So GM take your Acadia and "pound sand".

Sounds like it'* time to contact the local paper and see if they are interested in a story, or better yet, a local TV news show. It'* fun watching people explain them self on camera.

I had the cluster replaced and it works great now. I got a 12 mo - 12K warranty w/work so that'* not too bad. I do have an anti-freeze smell from the front of the car. Any coolant issues I should be aware of? Nothing dripping on floor as of yet. As always, thanks in advance for your help.

Not that I've had or heard about. If you have no drip, perhaps it got spilled previously?

Hmmm...ditto here. Never a drop on the ground, level is ok, but for the last 2 months I'm getting a whiff of antifreeze when I get out of the car. Been meaning to pop the engine cover and look around. I'm sure it'* nothing major, probably just the head gasket, right? <grin>

I just purchased this 2005 Bonneville GXP and wish I would have read these posts! My engine coolant light just popped for the second time in 2 months so obviously I have a leak! Do you know if there is a recall on this model so I can get this work done for free?

The coolant is leaking into the oil... the smell is the coolant burning off.....you should get this fixed asap before it becomes a larger problem.......
