I recently rotated my tires and instantly started getting a check tire pressure/low air pressure messages on the messege center. I have access to a tire machine, so taking the tire off the wheel to access the sensor is no problem. What I'm getting at is, a couple things. Do these sensors go out, and what are the symptoms if they are bad? Where in the vehicle are the sensors themselves relaying the wireless message. My guess is a sensor has a weak battery or something, and by moving it, it is farther away from the communication module and is too weak to communicate. I don't know, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

nevermind.....figured it out. The sensors on my GXP are a little different than the tire specific ones on my 08 Trailblazer SS. I've had trouble with the sensors on my SS, and subsequently the dealership had to replace them. I thought I had to deal with that all over again. C ya.

The GXP sensors are Wheel Speed Sensors. They provide the PCM the revolutions per minute of each tire. If a tire starts to deflate the revolutions count will change and this sets off the tire pressure warning. It'* very accurate and can go off if you change or rotates tires. With the car rolling down the road, sure of the tire pressures, hit the reset and it will "measure" the readings and set that as the norm. Alot better system really. Nothing to wear out. It also uses the readings for StabilTrack, AntilockBrakes, TractionControl, and TorqueManagment, and used by the TransmissionControlModule.

Owners in the past have had a few reported problems with the connections at the wheel getting wet, loose, and corroded. I put some dielectric grease in mine because I always disconnect the fronts when I'm out cruising. Disconnecting either of the front connections lets you "boil" the tires and improves light to light performance by turning off TractionControl and reducing TorqueManangement. Any tire slippage while the connections are intact will pull your timing and clamp fuel injection (GXP, not sure about gas manipulation on the other trim models)

Hey GXP....how much of a pain is it to disconnect the wire you are talkin about?.....and does it throw a check engine/abs light on the dash?

Not hard. turn the wheel all the way in, you'll see a plug connection in back of the backing plate. The light goes off when you plug it back in. Doesnt upset anything.
