Default Loud Clunk!!!!

My '04 has 34,000 miles on it and I've only had it a few months. Just this week when I have been pulling out of my driveway (which has a fairly good angle to it) and have my steering wheel turned to the right a large clunk comes from the right front of the car. It also happens when I backup on flat ground to the right. The weird thing is it doesn't do it when I backup to the left. I am not sure if this is a ball joint that needs greasing or is it the dreaded intermediate shaft? When I am driving, the car is solid as a rock and the noise doesn't repeat itself. Any ideas?

I'd look into the balljoint, or the strut tower on the side your hearing it from. The steering shaft problem (atleast when I had it) made a consistant noise while turning only. And it didn't matter which way I turned.

The strut mount broke on my GXP at about 30k Starting making a clunking noise and then finally broke. Does it happen when you are driving on bumpy pavement? Little clunks?
