Default 180 Thermostat

I always install 180 degree thermostats on my cars and remove the 195 thats in the car from the factory to run cooler and less detonation and less retarding of the timing and better performance but when I looked up a thermostat for the Northstar Bonnevilles all that was listed was a 180 so Im thiking this is what came with it from the factory since my 1999 Trans Am also had a 180 in it from the factory.Does anyone know for sure what they have in them?thanks

I could be wrong, but Northstars have stock 180s.

At least mine does.

Yes they do Jim. Stock thermostat is 180, because of all aluminum design. And told by Mr.GoodWrench to leave it alone. The PCM will do things to try to bring up to temp if you go colder.

What kind of rims do you have on your car, GXP?I can just barely see the front one.Can you take a side view picture and post it to this page?I have chrome stock rims but Im curious to see what aftermarket rims look like on a GXP.Is your car Crimson Tintcoat or Cranberry?

........, Its Blood Red Candy Marbleized. It was a last minute color from GM. You really got to get out of the N* sectioned more often!
The rims are offset a little to the inside so I can drop her. The rim clears the caliper by a credit card width

Those rims are nice. Looks expensive.Your right,I guess I thought the other Bonnevilles didnt have much in common with ours but I was lucky when someone wth an SE had a comment in the GXP section and I found out about clering my headlights and removing the yellow plastic from his signature.I like the looks better of the headlights now.

Other than our engine, tranny,PCM, a slight design difference in noses, front brake caliper, and stiffer suspension additions the cars are the basically the same and we have been asked numerous times to post problems other than these differences in the 2001-2005 section of forum.

Doesnt hurt to check out "your ride" section too. You would have seen the paint morph on my car and alot of good mod ideas from other members. I need to stay out of it while my cash flow stablizes I look at new mods and start hearing voices telling me I have to have it to...LOL
