THANK YOU 2 Bonnies, that was easy!! I do want to clarify something about "fuse 30" that initially caused a misstep for me. To disable the DRLs on a GXP you actually need to remove Micro Relay 30 from the underhood fuse/relay box. Not knowing any better, I initially removed fuse 30 under the back seat, and when that did not work, I tried Micro Relay 30 under the hood and bingo, no more DRLs.

The only thing I have done was to pull the one and only DRL fuse under the hood. Nothing else. No relays, no mini relays, nothing. Mine is an 05. All other things still work and no service lights are on. One simple fuse and that is all.

IAMAHUSKER and I both did the exact same thing and both verified that it works, but he and others are calling the relay a fuse. There is only one #30 on the underhood block, so if you remove it, you've disabled your DRLs. #30 is a relay. More specifically, GM refers to it as a Micro Relay on the map on the underside of the lid for the fuse/relay box.

My fault for the sloppy terminology. Micro relay is the name. Maybe should have written "little black box thingy in the bigger black box thingy under the hood, number 30"
Regardless, it kicks a$$ not having DRLs AND not having to do what other 00-05 owners have to do. I read one of their posts and it was like "have heart surgeon weld a new valve in your heart, insert wire from one part to another, phone Pope have blessing, then no more DRLs".

Nope that is not the one I pulled. THE ONE I PULLED IS A FUSE and it is listed as the number 24 fuse under the hood. I even printed out a schematic to make sure it would not set a light on in the dash. There is a relay under there also but I did not touch it. The relay is listed as the DRL relay and it is number 30. I will see about getting the schematic and post it here.
