I just had my intermediate steering shaft replaced at 3500 miles, called the Service Center for GM and of course they new nothing about the issue, but they offered me a free oil change. What a deal! Service manager at the dealership didn't even seemed to question my self diagnosis. Thanks to this forum.

Second car with the shaft replaced
I had to have the shaft replaced on my 2002 SSEi at about 20k which was ocvered under warrenty per the dealer.
Felt the "clunk" again a few weeks ago on my 2005 GXP and they said they could find nothing wrong when they did the 15,000 mile service. The clunk got more noticeable and I took it back the next week and the tech drove it 200-300 yards in the lot and noticed it right away. He also mentioned the TSB on it. They fixed it under warrenty again but I had to make a second trip back for service. No fog light issue...yet. Maybe I can escape that one.
Ive been pretty happy with my dealer overall though, they do seem to care about customer service more than most. I do really love my GXP too. It'* a pleasure to drive everytime I get in it.

04 GXP. The dealership replaced both fog lights and the shaft under warranty. However, I had to pay $200 for the front brake pads to be replaced(at 20,000mi ?).
I also had them fix the glove box light that had a bad switch, add coolant because the light kept coming on, and the parking brake that was broken.
Can't wait to see what happens at 30,000mi.!

Ugh... WTF!
Okay.. so I have been reading all this stuff you guys have been writing about this steering stuff.. my 04 gxp started that crap too. It started out as just doing it when you turned the wheel all the way to one direction, now it does it when you turn the wheel any. I am the second owner of this car. It only has 28,730 miles on it. I bought it back in July of 2007 with only15,886 miles on it... seems kinda early to be having problems... I guess there is not any warranty with the car..when I bought it they did not say it still had a warranty on it... I bet it is going to be expensive to fix it... what exactly is wrong with it?

Typical of many GM vehicles, the intermediate shaft in the steering linkage cant seen to hold it'* grease and the u-joint in it starts to clunk. Being an '04 and 28k on it, I would take it to the Dealer and check. I think I remember reading in a post quite awhile back they were replacing them with the redesigned one up to 35k miles no charge. Let us know what happens, please.

so does that mean I can expect it to go out again after 35k miles?
what a pain in the ***.
I do like the car though. I might just sell it and get something else that does not have this problem.
any suggestions?
Thanks.

2004 Grand Prix.
I've been told that the problem is just an annoyance and does not have to be fixed immediately.
I have it also, but it is barely noticeable.
