Default charging system on 04 North*

Hello,
I am a new member with an '04 North* Bonneville. I have had the same problems listed below with the steering shafts and the fog lights. All have been corrected at the dealer finally. (3 times for the steering shaft and 8 times for the fog light). But my GXP is having trouble with the charging system and I haven't been able to get anyone to realize the problem at the dealership. You will be going down the road and all of a sudden the lights dim and you feel a little hesitation and then everything returns back to normal. The gage, and a volt meter, shows a dip in the charging system almost goes down to 12 volts at times. I have had it back to the dealers 3 times but I get the same response "No trouble code no problem." Just wondering if anyone else was having the same problem.
Thanks,
Chad

ok although its annoying there is a reason for this....

Once your battery gets to a certain charge the alt stops charging therefore you see a dip when the change over occurs. I have checked everything and it wasn't until i took my mothers venture out and notice the same thing i did some checking.. every new GM does it some are more subtle then others.

There is nothing wrong with your car it does this to save your charging system.

Thanks for the info. I guess all the new technology is a bit confusing at times. I am used to the old school days where the volts gage said about 14 v. and if it went below that or above that, then you had a problem.

Again,
many thanks,
Chad

I would say if it goes below for any length of time get it checked..

My car does that after driving a specific distance from idle so i looked into it.

I have exactly the same thing on my 05. It'* been doing it for 30,000 miles since new. The first couple times it happens, you almost think it was your imagination, because it happens in a split second. It'* most noticable at night, when the lights dim. I don't know what it is, and I've been hoping someone figure'* it out.
