You could try a slightly different size.
Tire Rack has a Goodyear LS-2 for $99/pc
The 225-50X18 will be 0.4 in. narrower and 0.4 in smaller in diameter.
It will affect your speedometer a little. If speedo reads 70, you'll actually be going 69 because of the tire.

...actually, you'd only be 0.2 inches closer to the ground. The diameter is smaller by 0.4.

Nope, I'll have .2 closer to the ground on the bottom, and i could lower my body another .2 to the top of the tire.

Well,

I got my tires the other day. They were sitting on my front porch when I got home from work. It took OnlineTires.com about a week to get them from Cali to Iowa. I thought that for $408 to my front door was a very decent price for 4 high-end tires - compared to what I saw the "average" price of an 18" tire is going for! If you look around, you will see that used tires are that much on some websites.

I like the look of the all-season BF Goodrich gForce tires. They have a very decent tread depth which will be good for winter time dirving here in Iowa. When I carried them to the garage I was surprised at how "soft" the rubber felt. I am not using these tires for performance and these should make for a nice ride. I looked at the date code and it looks like all 4 of these tires were manufactured in April 2008 - so, about a year old. I don't have any issues with them being a year old as long they don't blow out while going down the road. And if they do, BF Goodrich is certainly going to hear about it.

So far very happy with my latest purchase fro my car. When I get them mounted and get some miles on them, I will try to remember to post again to let you all know how they ride.

Good price delivered. Good enough for me to get another set. I like the chunky look of them to, and they are great in rain, and not bad on snow for not have the typical M&* rated tread look.
