Changing the Bulbs in the Fog Lights
It seems a bit too soon to be doing this (just under 10K miles on my 05 GXP), but one of the fog light bulbs has burned out. I can't find anything in the manual about changing these and at least at a glance it looks like these guys are going to be a bear to get to. Anybody out there done this or can help with some documentation or a description based on experience? Any help will be much appreciated.

Yeah, yeah, thanks -- I understand that, and I'll probably wind up doing so, but my point is that I may have to do this myself one day and I'm still curious if anyone knows how to do this.

GXP Fog Lamp Replacement
I'm on my THIRD set of replacements at 30K miles. RIDICULOUS! The daler did the first set, but for the last two I attempted it myself going with Silverstar replacement bulbs. There are two ways to get at these elusive lamps.
1. Remove the inner fender by releasing the button clips (7 I think) Turn the front wheels to allow access to the fog lamps. Then remove the connector housing and, release the wire clp holding the bulb in place.
2. Remove the headlamp assemply (3 - 7mm bolts) Then remove the connector housing and, after alot of fumbling because you can't see, release the wire clp holding the bulb in place.
Either way, when replacing, you must thread the attached wire THROUGH THE CLIP before insertng the bulb.
I siliconed the O-ring and atually dried the inside of the housing with a hair dryer before re-assembly. There is obviously a design flaw here as with the front disc brakes...
Good Luck!

Well, I'm not real happy to hear that you guys have had bad luck with the fog lights, too. I swear GM sometimes just designs/engineers/uses some pretty crappy materials. I'm obviously going to take it to the dealer to get them replaced this time. I really appreciate the step-by-step BUT I hope I don't ever have to do that -- sheesh, what a process, eh? Thanks for sharing it nevertheless.

Yep, those look exactly like the ones on my GXP. 1 hour of labor to remove the tire, the inner fender then find a realtively long-armed technician to reach up in there and unclip the light assembly. The service writer at the dealer said that these are a "treat" to replace. Anyway, got it done, but I too hope they last longer than 10K miles. I think the response above mentioning the silicone sealant is probably a very good idea.
