2004 gxp bonneville front calibors and rotor problems
My 04 gxp has brake problems. it started about 3 mounths after I purchased the car. I fisst noticed a grinding noice from my front brakes, I took to the dealer they said my brake pads wore out early. They replaced them but I started hearing a high pitch squill when would hit brakes. I finnally went to pep boys and purchased a set of ceramic pads. The problem went away and all seemed fin for about a year untill my rotors warp badly. I took my car to a brake shop to have my rotors turned but they told me that my calibors were sticking which caused my rotors to warp. What I want to know is has any one else has had this problem with there rotors that was due to sticking calibors. My factory waranty has expiered but extended warnty covers my brake calibors I will be taking my car to dealer shortly so they can examin my calibors.

Calipers....and yeah, I've had that problem on my 2000. I can't keep rotors on the stupid thing. I don't know if it is because of sticky calipers or not though. Might as well replace them if they are covered under warranty and see if that takes care of your problem.

My rotors were warped but it was my own fault. No problems with my brakes at all actually besides the odd squeak.
As for your warranty, how does GM cover your brakes after you go out and put on aftermarket ceramic pads on? ...Just wondering.

Warped rotors are caused by excess heat, which can be caused by a lot of braking, riding the brakes, or most commonly sticking calipers. The calipers can be stuck at the piston(*) or the slide pins. (2 pins per side)
If the outer pad is worn out and you still have good inner pads, one or both pins are probably stuck.
I saw a Ranger last week with one stuck pin causing the right front brakes to drag. And the rear had a stuck wheel cylinder and the shoes were gone... metal-to-metal. The other side looked like brand new.

well i bought ceramic pads my GXP had the pads relaced by GM at 16155 miles with the cheap pads, At 22990 miles i did them myself with ceramic pads had the rotors turned they were out a little took the receipt in to gm wrote on the bill for the pads 150 for install and turning orf the rotors last week got a check in the mail friday Nice....
IMO this car is way to heavy for the same pads they use on cobalt or mini van...
they should have produced this car with the proper pads in the first place.

I had my pads replaced at 16,000 . Dealer said that they have had a lot of pads worn out on GXP'* early. The dealership replaced with ceramic pads. No problems since.

Premature brake wear...rotors
I have a 2004 GXP with about 34,000 miles on it. The first set of front brakes were replaced at 14000 miles and the rotors recut (barely passing min thickness) because of a sticky caliper. This was all done under warranty....no cost to me...but concerned about rotors. At about 33,000 miles the brakes needed to be replaced. I reminded the dealer to look up the previous problem since I recalled the rotors were minimal at 14000 miles and I thought there would be an issue. They charged me for the brake job and gave me new rotors under the warranty. So I'm very happy with how the dealer handled this. And at 19,000 miles between pad changes is at least acceptable. I will note I have a 2000 SE with 75,000 miles on it and has yet to have its second brake pad change (the first set lasted about 43000 miles). So I am a bit dissappointed with the GXP brake wear (but the brakes due stop better than any car I've ever owned....guess that'* the price you pay for performance brakes).
