Anyone Tried A Cutout On A GXP?
I am thinking about installing an electric cutout (QTP) right before the Y to the mufflers. I am wondering if this will help like on most performance engines or if this will possibly hurt the torque with the Northstar? Anyone here know for sure?
Also, does anyone here have the paint code for the Silver on our 18" wheels?
Thanks in advance!

I have thought of uncorking the exhaust manifolds and that looks like a great system. I cant see how it couldnt help. Maybe it would interfere with PCM readings but I LIKE the system and would be great at shows. Ya might have a guinea pig here.

what i sent Shadow in respoce to his PM rearlyer today....
well there are 3 different colours that my computer tells me where on Bonneville wheels in 2005 (i cant look up the GXP'* specificaly) two of them will likely be GM only because they are wheel colours only and one is also a very common mainbody colour.....
WA519F GALAXY SILVER is the common one that you may be able to get easly
WA9967 SPARKLE SILVER & WAEQ234M BLADE SILVER are the two that you may need to go to a dealerto get but at that point for what they will charger for paint alone you might as well have them redo it professionaly. see my "GXP wheel refinishing" thread to see what i mean

The new Z06 uses a similar technique to open up the mufflers to free flowing when at WOT above a certain rpm.
That way you don't have to compromise a loss of low end torque.
I actually have not noticed a drop in low end torque with my new 3" low restriction exhaust and Rogue opens up his cut out for racing and has improved his times.
I left room in my system for a future electric cut out.

Sounds good then - I will plan to install a QTP electric cutout for kicks in the near future. But I plan to install it just before the Y to the mufflers in the back as I want to keep the extra noise and vibration as far to the rear as possible. In the F-bodies, this method is referred to as a "Zed-style" cutout - as I have my 3.5" cutout right ahead of the muffler in the rear of the TA. It stays open all the time! I just wanted to be able to keep my stock muffler and tips in place for the stock look outback on my 30th Ann. TA.
Thanks too for the info on the paint for the wheels. The car had a little scrape on one wheel when I picked it up as the dealer had disclosed that and sent pics and all and I figured it would not be a big issue. They were unable to get the right paint in before I picked the car up and I forgot to get the info from them - and I'm not even sure if they knew the correct code or not.

And thank you Daytona for a great idea. Not much can be done really for these LD8'* and this one will definately help move the exhaust along when I nitrous. With new fine wire plugs and opening the exhaust, I'm going to try the 125 Hp jets again.

Yeah, Venom, it should definitely help the exhaust escape faster with the hit of nitrous! Good luck with it. I am thinking that the switch for the electric cutout should fit in the ashtray. But maybe that is where your NO2 switch already resides?!
