Can you buy cars with no paint and have it painted your own way? lol, I mean like special ordered with maybe just some primer on it so that you can take it somewhere and have it custom painted.
No. Definitely not.

Default customer service

After 5 months of gm refusing to meet with me I got the BBB and NYS Attorney General involved, GM now agrees the paint is defective and the whole car needs to be repainted. After buying 13 new GM cars in 20 years I have to force them to make their product right. I want a buy back- not a $37,000 car that needs a paint job..

agreed that a $37000 car shouldnt have paint problems, but your are not alone. I wonder what would happen if you told GM about the others that have the same paint problem as you??

I think that is what they are worried about. I have told them I have located other blue GXP'* with the same problem and I know they don't want to repaint or buy back all of them. They know they have a problem - see if you can find a blue one on the locator, there are a lot of the other colors but I can't find one blue one. I belive this is why at this point they only want to repaint the whole car not repurchase it, they said I must continue my BBB case if I want a repurchase . I had owned a 96 STS in midnight blue and loved it ,when this car came out I had to have it. Overall it is a fun car- fast ,handles and that motor ! GM has taken a 20 year customer who has purchased 13 new GM'* and sent him elsewhere. Even at this point they want to repaint a $37,000 car, they coundn't get it right at the factory what will I have after the second attempt. What about resale? I have been fighting for 5 months and usually trade every 24 do you think they have time to resolve this ? What do you think TL or G35 ?

i would stay with GM, I dont think that a couple of PPL the dont know how to paint cars should stray you away from a Good company. hey look at like this at least they are offering you a paint job. Resale value wont be effected unless you told the person that the car was repainted. Its not like the car sustained damage that caused it to be repainted. I think that I would take the Bonne over the Acura and the Infinity any day IMO

If it is a good company they would have some product pride and want the car to be right and take care of the customer instead of trying to sweep it under the rug. As far as them at least offering a paint job I had to force them to do that, they wouldn't meet with me until I filed ! I don't think you understand the scope of the defect, the doors need to come off, the lower cladding removed and the glass has to come out. I have been to the top bodyshop in the area and they recomend the buyback even after I said I would want them to do it. They said it would be $5,000 to $6,000 to do the job right. Going back to the GM dealer he said the same thing as GM will not pay them to do the job right , they will make them cut corners so go for the buyback. I have been a good customer for 20 years, I did not create this problem and I am only asking what I paid for - no more - No less. You seem to think they are doing me a favor , at 37,000 msrp I shouldn't be able to see white primer all over my car. I did take the GXP over the TL and G35 but mine has a problem and the company first tried to make me go away, I sent two cert letters to pontiac and they still wouldn't meet with me so I filed. Now they want to try a repaint because they see I won't go away.

Im sure that I dont underdstand your problem as I cant see your car. I would BE FURIOUS if that was me. I think that if you have been back to the dealer 4 times for the problem and the car hasnt bee fixed that you are entitiled to a buyback. You need to consult your local lemon laws in your state

If EVERY thing needs to be repainted then they should buy that car back!!

Test drove a TL , G35 coupe and a Legecy GT Limited over the weekend. The Legecy is not in the same class as the others but the TL is a very nice car, I am planning on driving the G35 4dr with the performance suspention as I wait for my hearing with BBB. It is to bad GM is giving me such a hard time because the GXP is such a nice car (needs a 5 speed auto) but I should thank GM because I never looked around I just bought GM.

Not having much luck with the factory even after I explained to them i have purchased five new gms in the last six years. I am having pictures taken and will post them. VERY UNHAPPY :( :(
