Not sure what to call it but I could use your opinion on the lower side body molding
pieces. The ones that are on the GXP and go from the front wheels to the rear wheels along
the sides. The one on the driver'* side is nice and tight and the one on the passenger
side is slightly loose AND on by the rear wheel or under the rear passenger door it'*
showing 2 slots. It appears that it' not all the way back. How does your'* look? And how
is this corrected?

what is the point of your thread? are you just showing us or asking how to fix it?

That looks like a buid quality issue. Measure both lengths of trim on either side to determine if they used the same length of trim.

Has your car been in a collision?

This has nothing to do with air flowing over the vehicle while in motion (ie aerodynamics)

No collision, seems I can push it on the front some what but not to cover the 2 grooves. Was just wondering if other GXPs have the same issue. Not sure what to do but will measure length and see....

Mine looked almost as bad as your photo in the beginning, It'* a build issue. Welcome to the world of GM quality so present in the era the cars were made. I hear and it looks as though it'* gotten better.There are alot of GXP'* out there that have numrous side body moldings coming loose as well, Most of the plastic pieces were put on the car with nothing more than two way tape. Mine was at the Dealership for two days having the panels remounted, only to have a door molding and both fender moldings come loose again. When my custom paint was done they took all the moldings off and put them back on with black urethane adhesive used for body kits. The Dealer will only redo with the same tape as the factory. I you want it done to last, take it to a good body shop.

That isn't at all acceptable. I'm not really surprised it left the plant that way but it should definitely not have passed during the PDI. Mine was assembled well and I believe your problem is related to "care" during assembly. Do you still have warranty?

I'm not looking at the GXP right now, so can't remember if the kickplate is separate from the small piece of molding that sits between the front door and the front wheel well on the front quarter panel, so here are two options.

If they are separate pieces...Make sure that kick plate hasn't slid under the body molding that sits between the front door and front wheel well on the front quarter panel. If you've pulled it out all the way in the front and it still looks like that, I would check the history of the car (unless you've owned it since new).

Alternatively, if the kick plate and the small piece of molding on the front quarter panel ARE the same, make sure that you haven't lost the screws that hold the molding onto the car AT THE WHEEL WELL. This used to happen on my old 95 Grand Prix all the time and I would get a very similar gap. (Which is why I can't remember how it is set up on the GXP)

I would be seriously surprised if it left the factory that way, esp. on a $39,750 car.
