XM Kicks but! It was factory installed in my 04 Denali. I really didn't expect it to be this cool. The comedy channels are great.

Had Sirius put in about a month ago. Factory radio was acting up, so boght a Kenwood KDC3022 which came with a FREE sirius tuner and remote. Had the stereo shop put it in and did the two year sign up. With the two year sign up you get a month free every year and they only bill you a year at a time, so that brings the price down. I used XM in some GM rental cars and at this point in time, I like Sirius better. My drive to work runs anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes and definetely makes a difference! And yes there are NO commercials on the music stations, and with Sirius you get a code that you can play it through your PC for home music also FREE, I think XM charges for it. Both systems can be set to scroll the name of the artist and song and album, if you want. For any one in the Charlotte N.C. area, Freeman'* Stereo does an excellent job, and pricing is ver competitive! Sound is excellent right through existing speakers from the factory unit, which was a am/fm with cd.

I have a Sirius radio in my Trans Am. Arguing which is better, XM or Sirius, is like arguing over Chevy vs. Ford. I was VERY skeptical at first and even took the setup back to Best Buy afterwards thinking I wouldn't like it. The guy talked me into keeping it and I'm sure glad I did! I have had it for a year now and still don't have local FM stations programmed into my radio. There are NO commercials on Sirius unlike XM. There are comedy stations on Sirius as well. Also, lots of retailers like Best Buy, Circuit City and Crutchfield offer deals where if you buy a head unit that is satellite ready, you get a tuner box free. You can get an entire setup for under $200. Kenwood is the way to go. I feel and most other audio enthusiasts would say the same, that Kenwood makes the best aftermarket radios. If you want to add it to a second car, it'* only an additional $6.99 a month. I just ordered a setup for my wifes car. I'd imagine that you would be happy with either XM or Sirius. The people who tell you it'* a waste of money, or that it'* dumb, are the people that don't have it and have never used it. I only drive two miles to work and listen to it the entire way! It'* great. Some people don't like the looks of the antennas, or are worried that it might be a target for thieves. The instructions say that you need to mount it on the metal roof of your car. On my Trans Am, I have it mounted on the back glass. I have a buddy with a Camaro, and he mounted his inside the glass upside down so it couldn't be seen. The Bonneville has back glass that'* sloped enough that you could do this. Or you could mount it on the trunk lid in front of the spoiler. Anyways, you won't be sorry if you get satellite radio.

people seem to be missing this, so I will outline it one more time. I am aware that this argument (sirius vs xm) is like chevy vs ford, but what the heck, right?

XM:
Commercial Free Music Channels
$9.95 per month

I've been thinking about getting XM cause I have an ALPINE which is XM ready. What'* holding me back is the antena. I was talking with my installer the other day and he said that I could but in the front windshield at the bottom on the inside. Done it a couple of times and no one complained about reception. I asked about the back window, like on the rear deck and he said that could work too but he rather do the front cause of my dark tint. Wonder if tint matters.

Oh Alpine makes the best decks!!!!

you can try it on the back deck first. I put mine there, but still have signal loss from time to time. My installer has the pioneer antenna and he had a pontiac dealership paint it to match his car, no problem.

Tint could cause a problem. Personally, I think the antenna looks a LOT better mounted on the back glass than it does on the roof. I get excellent reception everywhere I go. The only time it goes out is if I'm in a tunnel, or sitting under a bridge. If you mounted it on the dash, it would probably be okay. If you live farther up north, like north of South Dakota, Oregon, New York, you'd probably want to have it outside the car somewhere. I live in Oklahoma and get good reception. I know XM has two satellites, one over the west coast, and one over the east coast. I don't know how that would work here in the central US, but I see lots of people here with XM, so I'm sure it'* fine. The new antennas they have out now are pretty small. If you have tinted windows, it won't stick out bad at all. Matt

If you have 8% windows, it will blend in just fine. I have 15% tint on my Trans Am and it blends in fine. The car is white too. I'll try to get a pic up of it. Matt
