The other problems you're going to run into are with the vehicle chime and OnStar. If you plan to retain these, there are special adapters you need. Without them, you won't have warning or door chimes, nor will you be able to use OnStar. These functions are both handled by the factory HU. Aftermarket head units don't support these functions, hence the extra adapter boxes.
Before going too far, it'* important to know exactly what you want to accomplish.

Yes, chimes come from the speaker. Because the factory HU talks on the Class 2 Serial Data Bus, any other module in the car which needs to alert the driver to a warning or failure will send a Class 2 signal to the radio and the HU will then generate the appropriate chime. Whether Monsoon or not, this comes through the LF channel. In the Monsoon system, the amp sees it as audio from the HU no differently than music. It gets amplified and played through the speaker.
EDIT: I believe your amp is suspect here.

Before I get ahead of myself here, did you connect to the speaker wire or to the output of the HU at the amp before your problem started? If you connected to the speaker wire, I would still suspect your amp is the problem.

Yes it was the speaker wire i hooked up too. That wont happen now I have a New HU to put in with RCA'*.. By the way it was the amp I told ponitac that and they thought I was dumb or something. They replaced the RR speaker for some reason (even though there was 4 speakers not working) and then called me back today and told me they replaced the amp and took care of the problem duhhh!!!!
Still in the shop though for the fog light harness. Same situation there. I told them it wasn't the fog light it was the harness. They replaced the Fog light went out 3 days later, i brought it back in and told them I have a number for a TSB that I wanted them to look up. They said we will look it up our self. Guess what they are replacing the harness tommorow(after they found the TSB themselves). I guess they get people telling them what the problem is and dont like to listen anymore.
