Default rear deck 6x9 install difficulties

hey bonne fans!

Crazy question, how do i install my new 6x9 speakers on my 01 SE ?
I removed the grill off the back deck and i see the top of the speaker but cannot get to the screws holding the speaker down. i do know that everything is on top to remove the speaker, and underneath is the wires and unplug the harness so on and so forth.

I did this to my 92 and it was cake, with extra icing...but this shouldnt be too difficult.

can someone please help me. Thank you!!

You need to remove both rear panels on the sides (rear window), Once removed, there will be Three(3) Plastic anchors holding the mat to the body. remove those and the panel with the speaker grills still on and you will then have access to the speakers and screws. I suggest using a stubby phillips head screw driver to get to the screws in the far rear of the deck. Just did this 2 days ago.

I just installed rear speakers in my 2005 GXP. I had done it 5 years ago in my 2002 SSEi. The instructions are the same for the GXP, and all Bonnevilles 2001-2005. I too had issues with the top of the back seat. After reading a prior post here. I found that needle nose pliers did not work on the GXP. There are 4 clips that lock the top of the seat to the frame. A long screwdriver was needed. Just pull the top of the seat out, find them, and push down on the top of the clip as you pull out on the seat. After you do this, pull the rear deck up and out. I slightly bent the material in the middle. As for a wiring diagram, use this as a guide. Right Rear - Dk Blue = +, Lt Blue = -. Left Rear - Brown = +, Yellow = -. I highly recommend soldering your connections from the body wiring to your new wiring.
