6x9 speaker question
hey
im probably upgrading my speakers, since i am keeping the Delco radio for my 2001.
my question is, if the watt of a speaker is higher, like 500watt, 250 RMS, what does that mean? Id imagine it would suck some major power. What are the factory non-bose 6x9'* specs?
Here is a link, im buying from Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882184122 (how is the name PYLE Gear compared to Pioneer or Bose??)
if any of you might know of another site like newegg for speakers, could you share the wealth?
Any reccomendations for front speakers?

Pyle and Bose are both very poor companies when it comes to sound quality.
The wattage rating is the limit that the speaker can tolerate before becoming damaged.
Peak wattage is a rating of short bursts of high power, whereas RMS is a rating of continuous power.
A speaker can always work off of less wattage, but they may not be efficient enough for very low wattages. (will sound muddy) Also an amp rated to put out a certain wattage won't put out that wattage at lower volumes. So it is possible to connect a 100w speaker to a 150w amp so long as you don't crank the volume and overpower the speaker.
As far as speaker recommendations, I'd be very inclined to go with the polk db line. Because you're looking to keep the Delco radio, your going to need some fairly efficient speakers and Polk'* dB line is really hard to beat in that department.
Here'* the crutchfield listing for the db690'* (for reviews and info): click here
soniceletronix has them priced for less: click here

hey
thanks for saving me from making a huge mistake. lol
I just hope you mean Bose is poor quality for cars, cause my home theater system is a Bose and its awesome in a 600 sqft living room. Nothing better than driving the neighbors nuts
my next question would be, Does anyone know what the Delco radio puts out. It might be me, but i think the stock system is fine, but not at loud volume. My bass is +6, Mid range -3 Treble +5. If i have the preset EQ2 which is Base +4 mid 0 treb+5 it gets too much of a treble sound and hurts the ears.
