Wiring new speakers
I want to buy new speakers for my '93 bonneville but i noticed that there are 4 wires going into the connector. I was just wondering how to wire up new speakers.

I dont know which system I have. I have a loaded SSE so I would assume premium sound. But i already blew the left 6x9 and a front right component. What is the difference tho? Also i just got a Pioneer HU installed model DEH-4600. Also what size are the front components? Thanks for all the help!

the easiest way is to buy the speaker harness...you can cut the wire and do it that way but i dont remember how id have to go look...you also could run new wire!

the answer....
I have the same premium audio system you have, and put aftermarket speakers in. when it gets nice out, I'm gonna see exactly how the wiring goes, but here'* what you'll need to do if you want to put in new speakers:
cut the connector off your current speakers, since they're really not worth anything. then, try the first red, red/blk wires with your new speakers, and if that works, great. Otherwise, use the other pair, and they should work.
I have a feeling that the 6x9'* have dual voice coils, so at some point, there'* some interesting stuff going on in the wiring, which won't be hard to figure out. But, it'* too cold now to work on that kinda fun stuff.

Just went through the same problem
Alright, dude don't bother with all those wires in the back.
Checking the pairs to see what works with what wont work because youre not getting all the sound from the speakers. The other two wires that arent for the speaker are for the tweeters. and any of the pairs will give you sound from the speaker but not full audio.
I tried using the old but it sounded like crap, (especially with my Eclipse HU) so i decided to re-run the wire (to the rear'* at least i still need to do the fronts, damn door panels)
So what you do is pull out your HU and disconnect your harness, at the harness that connects to you car (NOT RADIO ) pull the leads & pins out of the harness, cut them and connect them to the appropriate speaker and run the wire.
TRUST ME. I just did this with no difficulty and got twice as good sound because the previous owner of my car blew everything and put in some **** speakers but now that they are hooked up correctly they sound twice as good.
OH and do you have subs? just curious if you have any more Q'*?

wait a sec...
Okay, that sounds like waaaaay too much work. do what I did. I push about 15 watts rms (30-35 peak) through my new sony'* in the back, and they sound great, highs and lows. running wire sounds like too much work. And obviously, if I get highs and lows, there is nothing being ran through a crossover or anything. So that one pair that works is as good as stright through.
