And it worked too... I never got the alien out of it in testing tho... But I do get the feeling the bulb died Typical

OK, so I did the test you mentioned above, Don. And YUP! That is exactly what the problem seems to be. So Boosty was right and everyone else was right!
Now I just need to find out what type of bulb it is, since I threw away the old radio. Not that it would have done me much good, since the old one had the same alien writing problem.
Anyone know off-hand what the bulb is??

I bought one a long time ago from a member here. I don't remember who the seller was, but if I can find it I can guarantee you it'll cost a lot less than $19 from me. Let me check tonight and get back with you.

lol!
Hey, I have no complaints. The price was more than right for me...free...lol.
But, I still haven't given up on finding a less expensive source for those lamps. No luck yet...
Dealers tell me they just send theirs out to be repaired. So far no radio repair shop can help me...
Hmmmm, I wonder if SkyCraft in Orlando will have something. First I need to know what the P/N is. I'll keep looking.

I have the old HU out of my 95... I may have to get the # off the bulb... But if Mark sends you one... We should be able to find a supplier

I'm hoping that if we CAN find a decent wholesale supplier, I can get, say 10 or so of these for future use by members here. During my researchthis morning on BC, I noticed that it'* a common problem, but the cost of the bulbs keeps most from doing anything about it.
I saw a lot of HU'* were swapped out rather than changing the bulb.
