I have an 97' SE. I was a little curious to know if mounting new speakers is possible in our cars. Maybe in the back doors like the front one'*, or maybe cutting a slot and mounting another 6x9 on the back deck. Any thoughts?

What are you trying to do with them? If you have a problem with it, then change it, but don't try to fix what'* not broke.

Adding more 6x9 in the back is bad, you don't want too many speakers in a car audio setup. In most cars, 4 channels works the best. If you add one more 6x9 you suddenly got a speaker in the middle, with no apparant channel.

And if you have subs, you'll realize that they get pushed in our car by the subs....

Nothing is broke. Just doing a little thinking. Yea, I got one 12" in the back. Wouldnt it be possible to rig something up with a crossover and a proper amp so the channel problem could be fixed? Basically want to know if adding another speaker or two is possible without forking over tons of money for the proper setup.

I wouldn't recomend it, in reading your sig, why don't you get a 4 channel amp for the fronts and rears, this will be a huge improvement over head unit power. What speakers you got in the front, those are most important btw.

When I got my car they allready had lightning audio 6x9'* in the deck, and stock speakers are still in the front. Eventually I do want to get around to replacing all four speakers. The front stock speakers are really lousy, arent they? What type of speakers would you recomend I get for my car? I definitely want better sound, but I wont be entering into any competitions. For a 4 channel amp, what type of max and rms power should I look for?

Well do you want to keep your stock headunit or get a new one first? Is the stock BOSE?

The most important speakers are the Fronts by far. Thats where your highest price/better quality speakers should be. Since you have a sub you don't really need any bass out of the 6x9'* you should get some good fronts to start and fade the sound towards the front some.

For a 4 channel get like 50x4 or more, even getting a say 25x4 is still going to sound WAY better than headunit power. Idealy you want more power to the fronts that'* why my 4 channel plays 150x2 to the front 2 channels and 75x2 to the rear channels. I have the rears set even quietier and faded toward the front almost all the way. Ideally you don't want to hear the music from the rear first/ at all. Voice'* or screaming guitars or whatever should not be heard from the rear PERIOD. That'* just my best Soud Quality suggestion regardless of budget.

What'* your budget? We'll tell you the best bang for your buck.

Right now I'm running an aftermarket Head unit, all stock speakers, and a DEI amp/ dual JL subwoofer setup in a sealed box. Even in that sealed box they move so much air my 6x9'* are getting bullied around. The stock speakers are fine as long as you don't play anything under say 60hz thru them. I just have my bass @ 0 gain and bump the sub to the proper level. Yes they aren't the best, but for stock speakers....

The rear speakers are fine for the rear speaker place, you won't need to change them for a while. Save up for a 4 way amp, and some components. Another idea, i'm working on right now is baffles for the rear deck. That way I can seal off the 6x9'* making them punchier in a chamber, and sealed off from the bass/air from the trunk. Crutchfield has some baffles i'm looking at.

My head unit is actually a Pioneer "something", which I purchased a few months ago. Dont know the exact model #, have better things to remember.

As for the front speakers, now that you told me all that info, if I can find a decent pair between 50-100$ that would be great. I have heard that using speakers that are the same model as the head unit is better sound. Is that true?

Whenever we figure everything out, are the lightning audio'* in the deck ok to use and hook up to an amplifier? Or should those be tossed? :?
