Do the SSE/ SSEi's have subwoofers in them?

Just curious because i unhooked the amp one time and i didnt hear the stron bass then when i hooked it back up the strong bass came back. If not a subwoofer, is it just the 6x9'*?

I was wondering this as well, cause my car has had the speakers replaced and the amp no longer works... Is it common to have the factory amp disabled when you get replacement speakers?

yes you almost have to bypass the factory amp if you install a new headunit. but you can use the amp with aftermarket speakers

Were they factory replacements or aftermarket. Cause, in my 92 anyway, the 6x9'* had two sets of leads into them, one set for the cone and one set for the midrange, and the gain slider on the dash adjusted the power to the woofer cone only. (That set now runs to 1000 watt amp to my subs)

If the speakers are aftermarket, they'll only have one set of leads. Did you lose bass?

Hi guys,

I noticed the "GAIN" control in my dash does not have any affect on my car'* speakers. Does this mean something is wrong or might it have been disabled?

It might have been disabled or one of your rear speakers might have blown or come undone.

I have the OEM radio and I just checked my rear speakers, they are not factory. "Pioneer TS-6970R"

also the wiring to the speakers looks a little funky.

that is why the gain doenst do anything, they just used th leads off the HU and bypassed the factory amp. If you have a 97 you shouldnt have a gain slider anyway.....
