Upgrading radio
Hey, I've got a 95 SE with the stock AM/FM/Cass radio and a stock power antenna and I noticed my radio reception isn't as good as the stock radio in my wife'* '99 Jimmy.. Will an aftermarket receiver give me better radio reception? Should I be looking at a different antenna?

I had no antenna in my 90 when I bought it. After getting sick of listening to "Dancing Queen" and the like as this was the only station that would come in I spent the $9 on a stationaty aftermarket antenna. After removing the factory antenna, I noticed that the connectors were a bit different. The aftermarket antenna had the same male connector you would need to plug into an aftermarket radio. But the vehicle cable has a slightly different female end. Nevertheless, I plugged it in and taped up the connection. Now, my FM reception is less than I would expect and less than my other vehicles.
Maybe you have an aftermarket power antenna?

I'm pretty sure it'* the stock antenna. I found the broadcast sheet for the car and it lists it as an installed option, so unless it was replaced, it'* the stock GM one. The reception is bad but it'* not as good as it was in my wife'* truck or my old truck.... both have/had stock Delco radios and fixed mast antennas.

Sometimes the antenna itself becomes broken internally, and the reception suffers. All of the connections between there and the radio must be good, but I would tend to start with the antenna.
