aftermarket alarm *(viper 791 xv install)* updated diagrams
I am looking into buying an aftermarket alarm and i was wondering if the Viper 791 xv was a good choice for an alarm. I am planning on installing it myself and also was wondering if there was anything in this alarm would make it difficult to install. I am also open to other selections of alarms too. I want the two way pager for sure and I am wondering if the Viper 791 xv would be the best bet for me. Thanks

i have the Autopage 850lcd 2-way remote start very nice
but anything DEI is good with clifford being at the top and wasp or hornet being at the bottom of there line up

alright i did get the viper 791 xv alarm and im not sure when i will have enough time to wire it all in but any suggestions on how wiring goes and anything on installing this product would be helpful. i am new to wiring alarm systems so any little tips and hints would be helpful. i am not 100% sure how to bypass the vats system but im sure with a little guidence i could do it. ill post a pic of all the wires and stuff later. thanks.

Although your alarm is from a different manufacturer, you may have similar questions that are in this post.
I install starters/alarms in this way:
1. Remove any unused wires from the product'* harnesses. For instance, there is usually 2 door triggers, positive and negative. Since your car has a negative door trigger you can just eliminate the positive one. This leaves you with less of a nest of wires.
2. Locate the target wires in the vehicle. You'll be working under the steering column and the left kick panel mostly so test and verify all of the target vehicle wires. Mark them if you have to. Plan ahead for additional relays for VATS, trunk pop, etc.
3. Make the connections. Some say solder, I say "tap and wrap". Your choice.
4. Test the system. All functions. Adjust and correct as necessary
5. Put back together and enjoy

I don't know about the 92+, but in my 89, the factory alarm is located right above the glove box, and is tie wrapped to the dash panel, underneath the passenger'* side speaker cover, that covers nothing, except a hole. Mine are labeled, so to save time, and because i'd probably mount the box there, I would tap those wires, and because there is a hole in the firewall near there, fishing wire through there, would be even easier. Plus, I recommend soldering.. but that'* just me.

Here is one thing I haven't understood yet. Would you put ONE shock sensor in a central location, or put several shock sensors throughout the car?
