Default Swapping Rear Speakers?

I was recently given a set of Sony Xplod speakers. I am new to car audio and was wondering how easy it is to swap the rear speakers in a 98 Bonneville. The original speakers are oval shaped, while the Sony speakers are circular. How would i go about mounting these? Is the wiring easy? Thanks for any help

It sounds as though the speakers you were given are 6 1/2" and the stock speakers are 6"x9" You'll need a special mount plate that converts a 6x9 hole to 6.5"

and the special mounting plates can be made up with some scrap plywood. use cardboard to trace the factory speaker mounts and then put the shape onto wood. cutting the inside hole(for the new speaker) first so it wont break easily(the wood). and only a set of wires to hook up per side/speaker. very easy if you have a jigsaw and a few scraps of, say 1/2 plywood or anything close to it.

Not worth converting. Sony Explods, are cheap with poor sound quality.

Not worth the conversion is what i was afraid of. Sony Xplods aren't even a bit better than the stock?

Sonys high end decks are ok. They dont make good, speakers, subs or amp.

Xplod speakers > Stock speakers

This only holds true from the good Xplod'* purchased from Crutchfield and not Wal-Mart. There is a difference.

HERMIT555>> If your rear speakers are still intact and sound decent I wouldn't bother with the swap. Just my opinion though.
