They are like colored pairs, correct? What I did was cut a pair off, then see which speaker quit, the 6x9 or the tweeter. I happened to get it right the first time, then cut the same pair on the other speakers.

well what i meant was...
there are actually 6 wires, 4 for the 6x9 and 2 for the tweeter. i know the tweeter because it is separate. the question i was wondering about was which set of the 4 to use on the 6x9'*. i did some testing, and ended up just using the ones that sounded the best, i just wish i knew what was the absolute positive and negative. it can always be changed though

I know what you meant. Do you have the gain control slider under your radio? I do, it increases the power to the woofer portion of the 6x9, the other wires go to the smaller midrange cone (that'* what I should have called it).

when i hooked up my custom cd player i lost all control of that lever...oh well, the cd player can adjust all of that, and when i get my subs in, my 6x9'* will be all tweets anyways

I believe two of the wires come from the subwoofer amp and two of them come from the radio. OK, the reason you lost the subwoofer amp is probably because you didn't hook up the wire to it that indicates that the power to the radio is on.

The leads to the woofer cones run through that amp that is under the radio, behind the slider. If it doens't work any more, the amp didn't get it'* hook up. Mine doesn't have any special hookups. It'* spliced into the harness, so I'd have to cut wires to get rid of it.

i never knew there was an amp there, i just thought it was a computer or something...should i just take it out? is that why the gain lever dont work anymore, it did with the old cassette that was original
gonna throw this question in here to...
when i bought the car the steering wheel controls didnt work, at all. is there a chance that they dont work just cuz some coding is messed up, or thats its not programmed to the cassette player that was in there, i dont know if it was the original. i want to get a pac swi-x and make it work my panasonic, but i dont know if i should test to see if the contacts are dirty or what the deal is first...

No, the subwoofer amp will still work if you still have the original speakers, you just don't have the power signal hooked up to your new radio.
Usually the steering wheel controls don't work because the contacts are bad. This may help you.
