Default New HU only?

Hey guys, I'm getting mad at my stock cd player. While sound quality isn't the most important thing to me, being able to listen to something besides radio is important.

For $80 my buddy can send it out and have the mechanism fixed, but I'm sure I'll still have the 95 cd skip cause the cd players weren't as good as todays.

Can I swap out just my HU without problems? My plan would be to pick up the connector that plugs into the stock harness. Realizing I lose the gain control, I just want to make sure I'm not walking into other problems.

Looks like the HU will be Kenwood... KDC-MPV8025 if someone has advice about that was well, I'd preciate it.

as i have already told you all this, may as well post it

dont have your buddy fix it, even my moms 97 cd player skips al the time.... my panasonic never has... well maybe when i hit that curb, but i dont remember, haha...

that kenwood looks pretty sweet, and will match great...

you will need:

installation kit $10-15
antenna adapter $10
wiring harness $10

yes you lose the stock amp and gain, but ask lakeville how he hooked his up with the stock wiring... i rewired mine with a bigger gauge

here is what the stock amp looks like, you dont need it

Hmmm, that'* odd. I didn't lose the function of the gain control when I had my CD player put in my old SSEi at Best Buy.

I have an 89 SSE and i still have gain. I installed at best buy, i guess they know how to hook it up so you can still use it.
