Default my VATS is driving me nuts!

again, I'm still having problems with my VATS. Previously I was pretty sure that the ignition switch was going bad so I tested teh resistance of my key and randman was awesome enough to send me a pack of resistors that included the one I needed. I got the resistor installed and it worked flawless for about 2 weeks but now I am getting the no start accompanied by the security light again. All the connections to the resistor are nice and solid so that couldn't be the problem. Like always the car will start fine with the remote starter but with the key it won't start about 10% of the time and it drives me nuts that it does it because I have been late far too many times because the car refuses to start. any other ideas? :(

Replace the VATS compooter??? All to often they crap out. But I don't know if replacing the VATS compooter means you need new keys or the same keys from the vehicle the comp cam from?

The key would have to match the resistance required for the new module. I think that would be a major job. In the Bonnys the module is screwed to the firewall above the air mix actuator.

Custom, If I recall correctly, there was a question if the resistor was connected to the right wire. Perhaps the wiper wires? Is this right or am I thinking of something else?

ah, yeah that was me. There were two tiny white wires under my dash that ended up being for the cruise control. Those are back together now. The VATS wire on my car was actually a black "single" lookign wire with actually two white wires within it. I know this is the right wire set because with no resistor parallel to the wires the car wont' start and the security light flashes (severed wire/infinite impedance.) When the resistor is introduced between these wires the car starts most of the time but still doesn't part of the time. Now that the ignition switch is bypassed I don't understand why sometimes it won't start with the ignition switch but it will ALWAYS start with the remote start (unless the secuirty system has locked out ignition for 3 minutes because it didn't start with the key the first time.) Even odder is that the car had this problem even before the remote starter was installed so I don't really know how the remote starter is always able to start the car when the key cannot.

Remote starter probably bypasses VATS.
