my honest opinion as a professional installer of car audio for the last 8 years.

there is no way you can make 2 12'' subs fit in a spare tire well unless 3/4 of the box is sticking out of the spare tire compartment which will look funny..

and also the volume in the spare tire compartment will not allow for most single good 12'' subs.

please take the volume you need from one sub and build a box for it to fit ..

imo 2 subs is pushing it honestly. maybe and its a big maybe you can try with 2 10'' subs..

88bonnsse i agree with you and dissagree. they make some pretty shallow. 12s now. and i bet with the lack of volume that the sub takes up you gain in box volume. if you did it with fiberglass. you might be able to do it.

but i do agree with the fact. yess two standard 12" subs are way to big to go side by side in there.

EDIT.........
heres alil proof

assuming you can get 1.8 cubic feet in there. its alil late to go measure stuff out but i be you could just barly get it.

but i will say that there will be no way to put a cover over it to make the floor flush i highly doubt. you may have to raise the entire trunk floor if you want it not to appear that there is even a sub there.

and just so you know with the odd shape it will have to be ported. with my experience. sealed it will have an odd hit doesnt tune welll

the trunk is mostly just sheetmetal if you wanted to you could cut out parts and make the tirewell deeper and bigger so that you could fit 2 12" in there.

there would be quite a bit of custom work

agreed but then again i wouldnt do that to my car. shes still TOO new.

but yea i would have done somthing like that to my older car. if i wanted to do somthing like that.

but i agree that is a very good resolution to his problem.

basicly you would only have to square off the area.

so what you could do is. cut the spare tire well out. and make a normal square box the size you need to fit the two 12s and then to fit it to the car tightly you could use fiberglass. inwhich i would cover the entire enclosure in fiberglass. or make some sort of fiberglass cap that fits over the box and forms to the car. so that its not so obvious that its a giant box under your car.

but thats just my idea.
