Basically what he is saying is if you change one thing in a Monsoon system you're better off changing all of it.

Yes its true. GM hasnt made an impressive car audio setup yet. The Bose and Monsoon Setups didnt have good sound like the Ford Mach Audio systems did. I agree that it more than likely has to do with the Crossover in the am/ or in line from amp to speakers. however it is set up.

RMS doesn't matter as much as sensitivity does in this scenario. True story! When I first got my car I upgraded my 6x9'* to aftermarket and while the overall volume went down (went from 2ohm stocks to 4 ohm aftermarket) the sound quality was better and the bass response was impressive. This is what my car sounded like with factory deck, aftermarket 6x9'*, stock fronts on the factory amp.
